Swimming in the Streets

CHEESPAS!! what a week. this week, president came to campeche and we had a lot of meetings and training meetings most of the week. and when that happens, pretty much all of our plans get cancelled. so we had to get those recheduled but we got them all fixed! sunday we had the chance to do a family home evening with some members to teach them of how to do one! and we had the help of another family in the ward. it was an amazing turn out with the WHOLE family there and it was really fun! we got to teach the lesson, brother abarca, the dad of the other family helped out with the activities and the family moo correa offered to help with the treats. but after we taught the lesson we did many games in which one i thought i would love but at the same time, it backfired on me. the activity was called "wickedness never was happiness" (but in spanish) and with this game, everyone has a piece of paper, and you tell  everyone to make up 2 punishments to anyone in the family (Example- "i want that jessica runs out side yelling i like bananas really loud" or i want that ricky does the chicken dance") stuff like that, and so everyone had a paper and wrote 2 punishments, including me. and this family, i feel like it is my own family. so i wrote mine down aimed for adrian, a young man who is like my brother. when everyone wrote theirs and put them in the cup, brother abarca then told us that the punishments that we wrote down arent for the person in which we wanted to do it, but for the people who wrote the punishment! and when i heard that, the smile on my face went away really quickly. because what i put is that adrian has to put on a dress and walk around the room. the family sure got a kick out of that. hahaha. this week we also celebrated with some missionaries in our ward! we have 8 missionaries in our ward, and 2 elder martinez and hermana mejia are finishing this week and going home! they will be missed. the reason i am writing so late right now is because earlier today around the afternoon, we had a huge storm pretty much a  hurricane and the winds were super strong! a lot of things and signs, telephone poles and trees were destroyed and like a quarter of campeche doesnt have electricity, including us! it was also soo cool to see the storm because i am in love with rain and storms and everything like that. so i am loving this time of the season! after the storm the streets were up to our knees in water and a car with a family inside was stuck and the dad was walking on the curb pushing the car awkwardly and was struggling with it, so us 4 missionaries, came out of the parking lot, and walked pretty much swam to the car, haha,  and helped him push his lilttle car to higher ground and out of the water. we ended up getting soaked but at the same time, it was fun getting wet and it felt good to serve. lik the LDM says, when we are serving others we are also serving our heavenly father. (mosiah 2:17) and sometimes, it may not seem that much to you when you do serve someone, but to the other person it means a lot to them. service is the key to missionary work and we use it everyday to soften people hearts to listen to the gospel that our heavenly father has prepared for us! i challenge all of you to think of ways to serve at least one person a day this week because if you do so, you wil not only feel great but you will also be blessed in many ways! i love this work soo much and sometimes it may be really difficult, but i know everything that we go through has a purpose, and helps us to become stronger! so keep serving god with all your heart might mind and strength! i love you guys and until next week!
